US Grade 8 - 10
In this twelve-week class, students will be learning concepts that will be built on through their algebra journey. We will move quickly while still covering in-depth the mathematical concepts. This class is part 3 of 4 all about algebra. We will be talking about polynomials, rational expressions, radical expressions, and geometry. I will be teaching the concept, the learner(s) will practice the concept with me, and then I check for understanding. I make sure to allow time for questions or more practice for concepts that are more challenging. For each session, the learner will be given a homework sheet to complete on their own time. I will review the sheet at the beginning of each session. I highly recommend that a student has completed a pre-algebra or similar type class prior to taking these algebra classes. Completing part 1 and/or part 2 is not necessary for taking this class, I highly recommend that students have a good knowledge base of the concepts taught in part 1 and part 2. A weekly breakdown of concepts taught: Week 1: Polynomial operations Week 2: Polynomial, monomial, and binomial operations Week 3: Factoring Polynomials Week 4: Factoring more difficult Trinomials Week 5: Simplifying Algebraic Fractions Week 6: Multiplying and Dividing Algebraic Fractions Week 7: Adding and Subtracting Algebraic Fractions Week 8: Simplifying radical expressions Week 9: Radical Expression operations Week 10: Simplifying radical expressions Week 11: Pythagorean theorem, distance formula, and midpoint formula Week 12: Review and catch-up This class will move quickly but will still thoroughly cover the concepts. I do teach other classes that cover each of these concepts in a deeper level.
