Beginner - Advanced Level
My goal for all students is to help them achieve reading and writing at the beginning college level, if not beyond. I will conference with you before class begins to identify your student's current performance levels, your goals for your student, and will create an individualized plan to meet those goals. Students will work toward mastery in writing conventions, strength of ideas, voice, strong organization, word choice, and sentence fluency. Students will also work toward mastery in reading accuracy, speed, and comprehension. This course is also designed for students who need to achieve a particular reading goal in a certain amount of time. If you are wanting to perform well on a reading performance test, I am the teacher for you. I model how to do everything I am asking students to do. Contact me, if your student needs to have a particularly high score for a school entrance exam. You may have only six weeks to prepare in addition to your regular coursework. I will help to focus a student's attention on that goal and the easiest steps we can take to get the results that are desired. I will also share an outline of how much time I feel I need to help you accomplish your goal. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. I am very clear in my communication regarding the goals we can accomplish in the time period you are desiring. A Sample Class Structure: Greeting/ Outline topic for the day/ Instruction/ Paired Practice with Me/ Independent Practice/ Review Together and Reteach if Necessary While I am bubbly and engaging, I am quite serious about tutoring goals. You are paying me for a reason, and my intention is to provide clear instruction to produce the outcome desired.
