In this 4 week course, students will be taught by a certified mathematics teacher. Class will begin with instruction from the teacher on a shared screen. Notes will be provided to the student prior to class. We will then move into a practice section that will let the students practice the material given in class with teacher guidance. Almost all classes will end by the student being given an optional homework assignment for extra home practice. Solutions will be provided the following day for the student to check their work and to ask questions in the next class. Each week/new material will end with a quiz to test the student's understanding of the material. The foundation of the class is as follows: Week One, class one: understanding points, lines, and planes and measuring and constructing segments Week One, class two: measuring and constructing angles and pairs of angles Week One, class three: using formulas in geometry and midpoint, distance, and transformations in the coordinate plane Week Two, class one: lines and angles and angles formed by parallel lines and transversals Week Two, class two: proving lines parallel and perpendicular lines Week Two, class three: slopes of lines and lines in the coordinate plane Week Three, class one: classifying triangles and angles relationships in triangles Week Three, class two: congruent triangles and triangle congruence Week Three, class three: triangle congruence Week Four, class one: introduction to coordinate proof Week Four, class two: isosceles and equilateral triangles Week Four, class three: finish

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Chelsea Clark. I am from Pittsburgh, PA where I live with my husband, Andrew, and my three kids: Maverick(2017), Jace(2019), and Willow(2021). We have 2 dogs (Elsa and Ollie), a cat (Rena), and a rabbit (Luna).
I have a bachelors degree in Mathematics and a masters degree in Education. I am certified to teach mathematics in both Pennsylvania and Virginia. I have worked in the classroom teaching at the preschool level for three years and as a high school mathematics teacher for three years. I have taught courses in probability and statistics, geometry, algebra 1 and 2, and trigonometry. I joined the online platform in 2018 as a way to stay home with my growing family. I started by working for VIPKID teaching English as a second language, then in 2020 I joined Outschool and began creating and teaching mathematical classes for all age groups (with a main focus on high school level courses).
My hobbies include anything outdoors (camping, kayaking, hiking, boating, etc.), reading (I LOVE the Harry Potter books!!), and exercising.
Mathematics is a passion of mine. I have always found it to be so interesting since it is a topic that can be found EVERYWHERE. Every single job in the world has some sort of mathematics in it. My aim is to make mathematics engaging and fun for learners so that I can spread my passion to others! I will teach classes that will address all age groups; from learning shapes and mathematical symbols for young learners to tutoring and ongoing high level mathematical topics for older learners.
My values and philosophy behind my teaching are as follows:
*There is no such thing as a dumb question. Asking questions is a great way to extend your mind and thinking. It helps you learn and broaden your knowledge.
*Teaching and learning are a revolving door. Class should not be about the teacher always talking and stating information but about both the teacher and student sharing information and learning together.
*The first step of a successful class is a great classroom environment. Student will feel safe, free to ask questions, and comfortable with working with their peers.
