4th Grade Math Tutoring: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Long Division Strategies

 have been teaching 4th-grade math in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) for two years. During this time, I have worked extensively with students in developing their understanding of multiplication, division, and other key math concepts. I utilize the Into Math Curriculum, which focuses on a hands-on, visual, and problem-solving approach to math.

In my classroom, I teach foundational strategies for multiplication and division, including arrays, partial products, long division, and repeated subtraction, ensuring that students understand the "why" behind the methods they are learning. I focus on building a supportive and engaging environment where students feel confident tackling math challenges.

Additionally, I have experience working with children of varying academic levels and needs. I emphasize clear, step-by-step instruction and provide plenty of opportunities for students to practice and ask questions. My goal is to help students build a strong math foundation that they can build on in future grades.

Through my teaching experience in CPS, I have learned how to connect mathematical concepts to real-life applications, ensuring that students see the relevance of math outside the classroom.
