In this one-on-one class, the student will learn and practice four strategies for multiplying a single-digit number by a double-digit number—the partial product method, area model, repeated addition, and standard algorithm. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method so that the student can choose the ones that work best for them. Confidence, enjoyment, and proficiency with math increase dramatically when students use strategies that make sense to them. As we practice these strategies, I will share useful tips and suggestions and encourage a positive view of math.
