US Grade 3
This course will cover the 3rd Grade NGSS Science Standards in a hands-on and engaging way! Seed and Stem Learning Center believes that students learn science best through exploration, group work, and hands-on activities. Real-world problems, situations, and problem-based learning will drive student inquiry throughout this course. Students will be given one lesson a week that will involve instruction, demonstrations, and experiments. The rest of the week will provide students the opportunity to complete projects and complete online simulations. Students will receive a homework packet every week. This packet will have multiple activities and assignments to choose from including reading comprehension passages, videos, and corresponding questions, at-home labs and experiments, and traditional worksheets. Students can complete one page a week or choose to complete additional pages. Students will have multiple performance assessments throughout the course in order to assess their understanding in addition to problem-based learning projects and experiments. Due to the fact that this is a self-paced course, students who are already taking 3rd grade Science can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll for a complete 3rd grade Science curriculum. Videos will be uploaded weekly along with practice assignments, homework, and additional resources. Students will use the Outschool classroom to access all materials and homework. The suggested weekly schedule will include the following: Monday: Pre-Recorded video lesson with instruction of the concept. Students will be given an assignment to complete by the end of the week. Tuesday-Thursday: Students will work on their assignments on their own. They can message their instructor for additional assistance during this time. Friday: Students will turn in their assignment to be graded by the instructor.
