In this 9-week course, students will learn about Weather Around the World. The content is typically covered in a fourth 9-week course in a conventional 3rd grade science class. Engaged students have been successful on state assessments. Charter School & Homeschool Approved.

1 hour per week. The students will have homework after each class. They will be asked recall and open-ended questions where they will have to apply what they learned to correctly answer the question. I ask that the students review what was what they learned every day. Optional: I ask that the students dedicate 10-15 minutes of study time each day.Assessment
The students will be assessed as they engage in discussions and as they interact in a question-answer session at the end of class. The students will periodically be given quizzes and/or formative assessments. This will guide my instruction. I will review what the students need.Class Experience
US Grade 3
[4thd of four 9-week sessions] This course takes a modified, thematic approach to 3rd Grade Science. It offers content that is typically taught during the fourth 9-weeks in a traditional 3rd grade science class. The students will learn about climates in different regions (biomes) of the world. They will develop and understanding of how to predict weather conditions in various parts of the world. The following topics will be discussed: Week 1 - Climate & Life in the Desert Week 2 - Climate & Life in the Desert Scrub Week 3 - Climate & Life in the Tropical Savanna Week 4 - Climate & Life in the Temperate Deciduous Forest Week 5 - Climate & Life in the Coral Reef Week 6 - Climate & Life in the Arctic Tundra Week 7 - Climate & Life on Polar Ice-Caps Week 8 - Climate & Life in the Tropical Rainforest Week 9 - Climate & Life in the Temperate Grassland The students will learn more about the world around them. Students will investigate the climate conditions in different biomes. The students will learn to represent data using tables and graphs to describe typical weather conditions expected during a particular season. These sections will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students will learn to predict climate in various regions of the world. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students will learn to represent data in tables and/or graphical displays to describe typical weather conditions expected during a particular season. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, and open-ended questions. The students do not need to have any prior knowledge. The 4th grade course will pick up where this course ends.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of the world around them. Engaged students will improve their ability to respond to state assessment questions on 3rd grade science content.
