Class Experience

This class will be highly interactive. The focus of this class will be on using repetition and strategies to help improve math skills. Each class will run in the same format to instill confidence and security in the children. We will begin with a mental math warm-up that will involve various methods of counting. I will give students numbers to read and ask them to write numbers. We will practice identifying relationships, such as "more than" and "less than." We will also practice identifying the "whole" and "parts" of numbers. We will spend time each lesson working on place value and converting numbers between standard form and expanded form. A new skill or concept will be taught each week. Lessons may end with a game to reinforce the new skill.
