I am a licensed teacher in the State of Indiana with over 25 years experience teaching, tutoring and coaching. I have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method by The Dyslexia Institute of Indiana and in Kindergarten OG by the M.A. Rooney Foundation. I have also completed Advanced Orton-Gillingham Training and Written Expression Training through the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana. I have completed courses on Dyslexia and structured literacy through the Montessori Foundation. I have also taken a Conscious Discipline training and do my best to incorporate it into my interactions with the children. I am a professional member of the International Dyslexia Association. I am currently working on LETRS training through Voyager Sopris Learning and have completed Units 1-5 with Certificates of Mastery. In 2018-2020 I worked in a private Montessori school serving students who have Individual Service Plans. I homeschooled my own children through 8th Grade and have used, and have familiarity with, a wide variety of curriculums, allowing me a better understanding of what methods can help to meet the needs of each individual child.
Learner will need paper, writing utensil, personal white board and dry erase marker. An abacus is optional as it may be used and demonstrated during some classes.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
