Class experience
During this 2 day class, we will read Junie B. Jones is a Party Animal by Barbara Park. In the first session, we will get to know each other, make story predictions, be introduced to new vocabulary words, and read aloud chapters 1-4. We will also complete a character comparison activity and discuss the adventures and experiences of the characters Lucille, Grace, and Nanna. During this book study the students will work on the following Reading and Literature standards: -Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. -Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. -Retell stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson. -Identify characters, settings, and major events in a story. -Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges. -Compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in stories. -Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
Homework Offered
The teacher will read the book aloud during class time. After reading and discussion, the students will complete an activity related to the reading. An optional at home assignment is also provided for additional learning at home.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
