課堂經歷
This course is designed for students who already love to write, have big imaginations and stories to tell! Students will learn the basics of screenwriting, with a goal of writing their own short screenplay. Students will be taught how to develop unique and engaging story ideas, how to develop strong characters that audiences will root for, and the proper formatting of a screenplay. There will be a focus on breaking a script down based on The 3-Act Structure, the use of log lines, beat...
In this 4-week course students will understand the basics of screenwriting, develop engaging story ideas, focus on building strong characters, and use aspects of their lives to express their thoughts and feelings through storytelling.
I will supply the students with the PDF of the screenplay. Students will need to have a notebook and pen/pencil for taking notes, or can take notes on a laptop or tablet.
The students will be studying the films and scripts for Back to the Future, The Goonies, Big and The Truman Show. These movies are rated PG-13 and contain mild expletive's, physical violence, gun violence and romantic relationships. YouTube clips will be shown during class.
The script for each movie will be provided, but students should watch the movies on their own. All other materials will be provided to them. The following links will also be used.
