Wonderful Winds Camp will be an interactive introduction to playing a wind instrument and music reading. Learners will be introduced to music reading skills related to playing recorder and tin whistle. Learners will begin by simply practicing good techniques, as they learn to play the notes B, A and G. Throughout the week, learners will read and practice songs using the notes B, A and G as they continue to develop good recorder techniques. In addition, learners will be introduced to music terms and symbols related to reading and playing recorder music.

Each day learners will be presented with a variety of visuals as they:
*warm-up by reading and playing simple patterns, 
*review skills and songs from previous days, 
*learn new songs and 
*play games to review content in a fun way.

Learners will also be given the opportunity to compose/arrange their own songs using simplified composition techniques.

Songs in this camp will be different from the songs in the Wonderful Winds Course.

Hello! My name is Mrs. McArthur and I teach MUSIC! I am a Texas certified all-level music teacher with 29 years of teaching experience, 26 years in public schools and 3 years online and homeschool experience. I have taught preschool through eighth grade General Music and Choir classes. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal music from Oklahoma Baptist University.

I believe that every learner can make music! Learners need a variety of experiences to learn music skills, including visual, aural and kinesthetic. Given sequential steps, students can achieve well beyond the expectations. When creativity is modeled, learners discover that making mistakes improves music. Learners need opportunities to be creative with choices so they can create on their own terms and interests. By making connections to science, social studies, math and beyond, students learn that subjects don’t exist in isolation. Music is the universal language and learners deserve a chance to explore the world through a musical lens!
