We will meet once a week and read a chapter together as well as discuss that chapter and the other 3 chapters that will have been read beforehand. Students will need to have their own copy of the book we are currently on. The class outline is listed below. The first 9 weeks of the class will follow the same structure. Students will need to have the book that we are currently reading. Right now that is book one: The Dragonet Prophecy.
Time outside of class will depend on how fast of a reader your student is. There will be 3 chapters a week assigned to read outside of class time. The Wings of Fire is recommended for ages 8 and up due to dragon-on-dragon violence and dark plots, as well as character death. You know your child best and all kids are ready for things at different ages. If you are concerned I would recommend looking into the books so you can make the choice that is best for your child. I am also happy to answer any questions.
