In this introductory lesson, students will learn the basics of owning and playing the ukelele. Students will learn about all the parts of of the instrument, how to take care of it, and how to tune. We will talk briefly about the history of the ukelele and how it influences the way that we play today. We will learn a fun and easy song at the end of the class all together. Students will be introduced to the basic concepts and skills on the Ukelele. Students will practice these skills and participate in active playing with the group. These skills will improve student fine motor skills and help with literacy skills as they progress.
I am a music teacher, certified to teach students from preschool-adults. I am passionate about giving students opportunities to express themselves through music. Introducing young students to music helps with their development of literacy, aural, and communication skills and can help set them up for further learning in other concepts. I have taken multiple professional development courses exploring the benefits of teaching guitar and ukelele to young students. I am passionate and excited about sharing these skills with your students!

Student Ukelele- widely available online. I would suggest a plastic ukelele for young students (they are impossible to break or damage if your student is a little rough on their toys). $20-30
