In this ongoing, student-led course, students will learn songs both by ear and using notation, as well as play games to strengthen their knowledge of the ukulele.  We will learn both finger-picking and chord playing styles of ukulele playing, and students who wish to can also work on learning to play and sing simultaneously in this class.  Beginning students will start with a curriculum of my own design, and then be required to purchase a lesson book based on their age and skill level.  Students who are returning to the ukulele or continuing instruction will start by playing from sheet music already purchased, and then assigned other lesson books as needed.  

Students will need their own instrument at home, which can be either a soprano or concert ukulele, and it is suggested (not required) that students also have a neck strap.  If parents do not wish to use the same browser-based tuner that will be screen-shared in class, then a tuner will also be needed. Toy ukuleles are not recommended, as they often go quickly out of tune, which can be frustrating for the learner.

I am a Kodaly-certified teacher with over 17 years of experience teaching music, and all curriculum that I have designed for lessons I will provide in digital copy at no cost to you.  My philosophy is that learning is best when it’s fun, so in addition to skills, I also include interactive games in each class.
