This class builds on knowledge learned in Useful Music Theory 1. Music theory can be overwhelming, chaotic, boring... all the things. Even private instrumental teachers struggle to fully incorporate this material into lessons. But it doesn't have to be this way. What if we taught music the way we teach language? What if we offered students tools that seem complex, but give them the space to explore, to create, to USE what they've learned, rather than simply memorizing abstract facts? That's...
Students will reinforce skills learned in Useful Music Theory 1, gaining confidence in their ability to communicate musically.
Georgia has had the privilege of teaching thousands children and teens music over the past decade as a private instructor, community music teacher, and teaching artist. She is an active working musician in Pittsburgh, has recorded three full-length albums, and makes visual art. She graduated from Berklee College of Music with honors in 2014, with a BA in songwriting, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Music Therapy at Duquesne University to better inform the mental-health supporting elements of the You Be You curriculum.
