Join us as we explore the haunting tale of Bess and The Highwayman while learning poetic devices and creating a comic strip version of the story! Session 1: We will make predictions about the poem, then read the first few stanzas. We will discuss some common poetic devices, and then begin reading the first half of the poem. Pencil and paper are required for this course. Students will add to the same sheet(s) of paper each week as the lesson builds.
Some violence, including mention of guns, a hostage capture, a shooting, and a suicide (not graphic or descriptive). Uses the word "breast" for chest and mentions "hell" in reference to an obstacle.
