課堂經歷
This class will be taught using a combination of direct instruction, visuals, and hands-on activities. The class will be fun and orderly, with plenty of chances for student interaction! We will begin class by defining the 4 geographic regions of Texas. Using google maps, we will look at specific examples of each region. We will identify major landforms in each area and discuss their characteristics. Finally, using playdough and a handout, we will construct a map of the physical regions of Texas. Students do not need any prior knowledge of Texas geography to take this class.

This class is aligned with the Texas TEKS for 4th grade Social Studies:
6 Geography. The student understands the concept of regions. The student is expected to:
(A) identify, locate, and describe the physical regions of Texas (Mountains and Basins, Great Plains, North Central Plains, Coastal Plains), including their characteristics such as landforms, climate, vegetation, and economic activities; and
(B) compare the physical regions of Texas (Mountains and Basins, Great Plains, North Central Plains, Coastal Plains).
Students will identify the 4 geographical regions in Texas and create an accurate map using playdough.其他詳情

Play dough may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.

Students must bring the following supplies to class: -RED, BLUE, YELLOW and GREEN Playdough: Any brand is acceptable. Playdough can be purchased at many stores, or made using ingredients you can find in your kitchen! There are many recipes online to make your own. If you don't have the requested colors available, that's perfectly fine. We can adapt. - Handouts available in the Outschool classroom.
