The 5 spelling rules will be covered with examples and practice using each rule. Printable documents will be available to each student. The teacher will present the rule in a story-type fashion and demonstrate the rule using selected words. The students will be asked for feedback during the review section and be able to ask questions during the lesson, as possible. The handouts will provide hands-on interaction of the rules to supplement the class. Possible games and slides, as time permits will be used. Day 1: Floss Rule and Tennis/Rabbit Rule Day 2: Doubling Rule and Dropping Rule Day 3: Changing Rule and Review *Students should know basic phonics skills to be able to thrive in the class.
