每週 1-2 小時. Students will receive a new scavenger hunt item each day and should post their pictures as soon as they have found the item, even if it is not on the same day. I will include as many in backyard items as possible, but some photographs may require a hike or trip to a local forest or park. If necessary, the students can post pictures in bulk after a weekly nature hike.

Welcome to a Summer Scavenger Hunt! Every day for 30 days, I will post a different item for students to find. When found, students will post a picture of that item in the classroom. Items will include acorns, clouds, pine cones, water, moss, a dandelion, or a nest. Some items will offer the students options, like an item that is their favorite color or something that can sit on, crawl under, or climb over. Students will receive a new scavenger hunt item each day and should post their pictures as soon as they have found the item, even if it is not on the same day. Different items may be harder to find depending on location and accessibility. While my example pictures all come from the outdoors, students can be creative and include as many household items as they desire. 

Interaction with other students:
Students should feel free to ask questions about other students' items like: what species is it or where did the student find the item? Students should then respond with their explanation and story about how they came about this particular item. This will help students see different varieties of the same item (like cumulus clouds versus stratus clouds) and learn where items are found (in the forest, near a creek, in a backyard, on a farm, etc.).  

Interaction with the teacher: 
I will post pictures of my own items found near my home and creek. I hope my items will also foster discussion and questions, especially if the students struggle with a particular item on the scavenger list. I will ask questions of each of the students' posts and pictures to foster discussion and storytelling as well. At the end of class, each student will receive a certificate of completion.

They will also learn where items are found (in the forest, near a creek, in a backyard, on a farm, etc.), depending on their own search and the searches of myself and the other students.

The students will need to spend time finding items that fit into each daily category. They may be up close and personal with nature to take pictures of their scavenger hunt items.

I have a master's degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults and have been teaching writing and reading classes on Outschool for multiple years. I recently moved to 4 acres and have fallen in love with the trees, plants, and animals on our property and creek. This class is a fun way to pass on my love of nature and share it with a group of students who is looking for a challenge! I hope my  pictures will inspire students as much as their pictures inspire me and the other students! I hope students have as much fun finding the items as I do looking at their pictures.
