Bring your favorite stuffed animal and some paper to class! We will be creating short stories that star our very own stuffed animals. In this one-time class, we will use stuffed animals as inspiration for story characters and will begin to put our story ideas down on paper. Class starts with introductions to our stuffed animals and I'll ask open-ended questions to help get learners thinking of their stuffed animals as story characters. The goal of this class is for learners to use their stuffed animal as inspiration for short stories and to ignite an interest for connecting play with beginning creative writing.
I have a Master's degree in early childhood and inclusive education with an emphasis on literacy. My love for creative writing started when I was a child and continues today. I have been an educator for 20 years and am passionate about teaching literacy skills that support a lifelong love of reading and writing. Storytelling and creative writing are some of my favorite ways to support literacy development. I see all children as capable individuals who are motivated to learn when their interests are honored and they are encouraged to make their own discoveries.
