"Your writing could be good, but editing will make it better." -- This idea is at the root of this class. Many students do not understand the importance of self-editing their work before turning in their writing assignments. For more than 10 years, I have been teaching academic English writing classes to university students; now I teach writing to students on OutSchool. In both cases, I have discovered a major problem with writing assignments is the fact student do not check their work...
Students will understand how to edit their sentences and why editing is important in writing. They will learn how to self-correct common writing errors, such as run-on sentences, verb tenses, & FANBOYS usage.
I have a BA in Sociology from UCLA in Los Angeles. I also have a Master of Professional Writing (Nonfiction) and a Graduate Certificate in Gender Studies from USC in Los Angeles. For several years, I taught academic writing in English at universities in Costa Rica, Ecuador and South Korea. I am eager to engage young writers in a writing workshops to improve their understanding of writing well.
