The spelling of homonyms and homophones, words that have the same pronunciation but different spellings and meanings, can be tricky to remember. In this class, students will learn mnemonic devices and visual spelling clues in a fun, creative way to help them distinguish between pairs of homonyms and homophones. Students will learn the spelling of pairs of homophones. The work done in class can easily be used at home to reinforce what was learned.
Allison Woolley has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis. She has homeschooled her children from kindergarten through high school and has used the homonym spelling tips taught in this class successfully with her own children. Her experience also includes tutoring English Language Arts to 2nd – 6th graders and teaching other subjects and leading groups for children in pre-K through 8th grade.
