Students will learn how to make a story plan using the different elements of a short story. 
Students will learn basic facts about real-life pirates and their role in shaping legends and stories of pirates and will discover how to use those elements in their own story writing. Students will also learn about stereotypical pirates, language associated with them and characterisation. 

Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, I've almost 20 years’ experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds). Over those years I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills. My favourite lessons have always been when I can find out what interests and motivates a student and use those interests to engage a learner and build their confidence.
I have been involved with many 'PIrate Days' in school and have run pirate-themed events within my youth groups, some alongside a good friend and 'professional pirate' (who has travelled the world to make appearances and run events as a pirate!).
