When a high school student has the SAT or ACT coming up, they can feel unsure about how to study for it.  SAT and ACT scores can have a big impact on a student’s future, so it’s no wonder they might feel overwhelmed or anxious about taking the test and preparing for it. Heather and Anna are here to help! Meet with one of us for expert guidance on everything from how and when to register for the test, how to set (and stick to) a study schedule, what test-taking strategies actually work, and of course how to solve each math problem and crack the code of each reading passage. Students who have this support and guidance to help them along will achieve their best test scores and rediscover the love of learning. 

**Why Private Tutoring**
Studying for the SAT or ACT can make an enormous difference in your scores, and those scores can really impact your future! So, it’s worth an investment of time and resources to do the best you can on these tests. There’s no getting around that private tutoring will be more expensive than self-study or attending a group class, but it is the most effective and time-efficient way to meet your goals. There won’t be any wasted time on questions that don’t apply to you or topics you’ve already mastered. During private sessions, you will have the full attention of an expert who will really get to know you and encourage you to keep learning.  

**How it Works**
Most of our students meet with us for a one-hour session once per week between now and their test day. The typical student will need 10-15 sessions to progress from beginner to achieving a goal of about 200 more points on the SAT or 6 more points on the ACT. However, we understand very few students are typical! The beauty of private tutoring is that every aspect of the program can be tweaked to meet the needs of the student. **The First Session**
As soon as you sign up for our tutoring, we will get together for the kick-off meeting. In this special session, we’ll take some extra time really getting to know you, your current situation, and your goals. Together we will decide:

✏️Your ultimate goals for the SAT and/or ACT
✏️Any special challenges we need to strategize around
✏️When, where, and how many times you’ll take the test
✏️A schedule for your future tutoring sessions
✏️How much time you can commit to studying and the best way to spend that time
✏️What topics we need to prioritize during tutoring 
✏️How to access your study materials

You’ll also get your first homework assignment, which is usually a full-length practice test.  The goal is for you to finish the session with a clear plan and with the motivation to get started on it right away.

**Going Forward**
Every time we meet after the first, we’ll follow this general pattern. Remember, we’ll be making adjustments every step of the way to make sure we’re covering exactly what you need the most.

✏️A quick check-in to make sure you’re on track and to make any necessary tweaks to your study plans
✏️A review of the homework due that day.  We won’t push forward until you feel like every one of your questions has been answered! 
✏️An introduction to the next topic on your priority list, with tips, sample questions, and plenty of practice 
✏️A wrap-up where we make sure you know exactly what to do between now and the next time we meet
