An intertactive introduction to the instrument, including world and West African geography , playing technique, and musical skills. Have fun while building a traditional rythym step by step and learn to play with songs and develop skills for playing in a group setting. Questions, student interests and associations highly encouraged and will guide the direction of the class. more than 20 years teaching, performing and studying with master musicians and artists. Currently with Northwestern University, Columbia College Chicago, Urban Gateways, and the Old town school of folk music. Currently teaching grades prek to 8th with Chicago public schools.Honored by Gambian ambassador Dawda Fadera as a ' Professor of Percussion ' , was a 2020 cultural performer nominee to the Dubai International Expo, featured performer at the Chicago Cultural Center, Texas Democratic Convention, Abene Festival of the Arts , Casamance, Senegal.
