Welcome to Rockin' Writers! We believe that writing can and should be fun! In this class, we will work through the opinion writing portion of Common Core writing standards. Most classes will have a direct instruction mini lesson, student work time, and sharing out of student work. Students will be encouraged to contribute to class conversations, work independently, and work in partners to practice peer editing skills. Students will be able to state their opinion and support it with solid reasons. Students will grow their understanding of the writing process (plan, prewrite, write, edit, share) Students will grow in their ability to self edit their work. Students will collaborate in proofreading each other's writing. Students will be able to effectively make changes to their writing based on teacher's edits.
Our teachers both have degrees in the education field and brick and mortar classroom experience. Each instructor has several years of experience and extensive training on teaching writing and working with 4th and 5th grade students in an online setting.
