Learners embark on a fun adventure! Dive into the world of Roblox by building basic foundational game development skills, designing game environments, mastering game control and player interaction with code, and building a GUI for an Obby game. Explore, learn, and master new skills while navigating through challenges in a Roblox Obby game. *With the holiday season approaching, we understand that travel plans can interfere, so we offer flexible scheduling to ensure your child doesn’t miss out.* What Learner Will Learn: Lesson 1 - Roblox Studio Explorer Description: - We will learn how to use Roblox Studio to create 3D games in Roblox. They will learn to create a house structure using basic shapes. Learning Objectives: - Explain the Roblox Studio as an IDE to create 3D Roblox games. - Use the basic shapes to create real-life structures. - Demonstrate how to create a house structure with a door entrance in Roblox. Lesson 2 - Landscape Creation Description: - We will learn how to build forests using the Roblox Terrain Editor system. They will be able to construct and customize their terrain. Learning Objectives: - Explore the terrain features in Roblox Studio and customize them using editing tools such as draw, subtract, add, paint, etc. - Build the forest using the Terrain Editor system. - Execute the creation in the Studio. Lesson 3 - Roblox Game Design with Shapes and 3D Models Description: - We will learn how to design a multi-level Obby game in Roblox. They will learn to create the platform where the game begins. They will also learn to design easy and difficult levels using basic shapes and solid modeling. Learning Objectives: - Explain the Roblox Player as a tool to play 3D multi-player Roblox games. - Use the basic shapes and solid modeling to design easy and difficult levels. - Demonstrate how to design levels and a platform where the game begins along with 3D models that add to the decor of the game. Lesson 4 - Interactive Obby Game Design with LUA Description: - We will learn about the LUA programming language. They will learn about variables and use it to change the color of a block in a sequence. Learning Objectives: - Explain the scripting/coding in the Roblox Studio and the variable concept in the LUA programming. - Demonstrate the process of creating a variable and changing its value. - Build level 2 for the Interactive Obby game using the LUA. - Execute the creation in the Studio. Lesson 5 - Roblox Game Mechanics: Coins, Health, and Challenges Description: - We will learn to design a customized 3D model using basic shapes and code it to destroy the player when the player touches it. They will also learn to design coins using basic shapes, place them in the game, and code them to keep the count of coins collected using variables and conditionals. Learning Objectives: - Recall how to design a 3D model using basic shapes, new models like a coin, and levels with many obstacles. - Use the concept of function to perform a specific task and connect it to the event in the LUA programming language. - Demonstrate how to design levels with obstacles and coins and code them to reduce the player’s health on touch event, and collect the coins and keep a count of them using variables, conditionals, and functions. Lesson 6 - Unleashing Player Speed and Jump Mastery Description: - We will learn to manipulate the player's speed and jump height in our Obby Game. They will also learn to design levels using basic shapes, place them in the game, and code to create spinning obstacles using a while loop. Learning Objectives: - Recall how to design a 3D model using basic shapes, new models like a spinning platform, and levels with many obstacles. - Use the concept of while to perform a specific task and connect it to the event in the LUA programming language. - Demonstrate how to design levels and code them to increase the player’s speed and jump height on touch events using variables and functions. Also, make the platform spin using a while loop. Lesson 7 - Crafting an Engaging User Interface Description: - We will learn to design an engaging user interface for a game in Roblox. They will learn to add UI elements like a form, a label, a button, and an image label. Learning Objectives: - Recall how to design and import 3D models to build challenging levels. - Use the UI elements to design an engaging user interface. - Demonstrate how to design a UI in the Obby game and code it. Lesson 8 - Level Crafters: Build & Share Description: - We will learn to debug the code and fix the Obby Game. They will also learn to publish the game. Learning Objectives: - Recall how to design a 3D model using basic shapes, and new models like a tower, playground, and levels with many obstacles. Also, recall variable and function concepts. - Use the concept of debugging to identify and fix the errors in the code. - Demonstrate how to design levels and debug the levels. Also, publish the game online. Technology/Software Requirements: Roblox Player and Roblox Studio are required for this program and it requires a Google account to play. We will share the step-by-step guide to install Roblox and account creation.
In case you encounter any challenges while installing Roblox, we will be more than happy to assist you.
The teacher will be able to see the username/gamertag of the student during the class.
