課堂經歷
Students will learn to draw realistic ocean animals with pencils. This is an intermediate to advanced drawing class. (Students should have some drawing experience). I show how to use different pencils to attain different values and textures, and how to really draw the shapes and lines in the pictures we draw. In each class we discuss elements of art (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space) in the drawing for that week. Students are encouraged to ask questions and discuss the drawing. Overall, I love to keep things light and relaxing. Even though we are learning technical skills, I love to make it personal for each learner and encourage their insights and questions. Week of May 1: Starfish Week of May 8: Lobster Week of May 15: Orca Week of May 22: Jellyfish Week of May 29: Penguins Week of June 1: Sea Lion Week of June 5: Sea Turtle Week of June 12: Octopus Week of June 19: Dolphin Week of June 26: Seagull Week of July 3: Crab Week of July 10: Seal Week of July 17: Shark Week of July 24: Clown fish Week of July 31: Walrus Week of August 7: 'Dory' fish Week of August 14: Manta Ray Week of August 21: Star fish Week of August 28: Penguins *Weekly drawing subject to change based on students' wants/needs.*
學習目標
Students will improve understanding and practice of using different art pencils and identifying the elements of art (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space). There is a lot of emphasis on practicing proportion and value. Sometimes we will use a grid to aid with proportion. We will also do a value study at the beginning of the semester and as needed. Students will be encouraged to sign their name and share their artwork (but this is not required). Sharing artwork is allowed multiple times during each class so that feedback can be given and questions answered.

Pencil, eraser, and Paper. :) Art pencils are highly recommended but school pencils work just fine in a pinch. Any eraser will work but I show students how to use different erasers in class and recommend trying a "kneaded eraser" if they can. Any paper works. I usually use regular computer paper folded in half because that size works well for the time we have. Drawing in a sketchbook is great too.

Hello! I am BriAnn Ongesel. I have taught online classes for over 7 years and over 2 years here on Outschool. I teach art classes to ages 5-17.
I have my bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Brigham Young University Idaho. I also studied UX/UI design from California Institute of the Arts. I am currently a freelance designer, online teacher, and mother of four.
I believe that the best learning comes from doing. Students learn from practicing the principles taught and from sharing what they learn with their peers. It is important to have fun in my classes, as well as talking with other students about class concepts and similar interests. Learning is about chasing what excites you and diving into all you can with it.
My hobbies include reading, drawing, and baking. I love good food - including 'nicecream', butternut squash, and cheesecake.
