Hello! My name is Courtney Como. I currently live in the state of Louisiana in the USA. I primarily teach English language arts classes to students in Pre-k to 2nd grade. I specialize in teaching phonics and reading classes with private, one-on-one instruction. My teaching strategies are tailored to meet your child's needs based on their interests and skill level. This allows me to teach at your child's pace while adapting the lesson to your child. I love interacting with students individually while providing them with the attention and support that they need to succeed. I am friendly, encouraging, and very patient.

I have 5 years of online teaching experience. This experience includes teaching ESL [English as a Second Language] classes online to beginner and intermediate level students from China and other countries, along with teaching English language arts classes online to preschool and elementary school students from all over the world. I also have 1-2 years of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students while attending college. I have a Bachelor of General Studies in Psychology and Education from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. My degree coursework consists of 60+ hours of psychology and teacher education courses combined. I also completed an advanced TESOL [ESL Teaching] certificate as well. My goal is to not only teach students, but to inspire them to reach their full potential and encourage them to learn to the best of their ability.

I have 10 years of experience serving and advocating for children and families in the social/human services field. Later, I decided to pursue a non-traditional career in education, which is teaching online. Learning doesn’t just take place inside the classroom. I love being able to teach students from all over the world through an internet connection. I am so excited to continue my teaching endeavors with Outschool! 

Parents, if you are interested in a class, but don't see a time that works for you, please send me a message. I will try my best to accommodate your child's schedule. If you need to cancel class within 24 hours of start time or if your child misses class, please send me a message. I am more than happy to reschedule class per request.
