This course is structured based on the child's strengths and weaknesses. Students will work on current phonic skills that they may be missing or need more practice on. We will also focus on applying those phonic skill to their reading comprehension and writing. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham and will use the approach of multi-sensory techniques for reading instruction. Word mapping and sound wall handouts will be provided. Please come with a blank notebook several sheets of printer paper stapled together in a book, crayons, 6 counters (coins or marbles something students can use to slide for each sound they learn), highlighter, and pencil.

We will be using ebooks to practice their comprehension. Some ebooks that we will use are from Epic. This is a free resource that has thousands of ebooks for students. Students will have access to after each session to digital read on their own, but it is not required.
The use of ebooks will be used in the class.
