Do you have a wiggly tooth? Did you just lose a tooth? Do you hope to lose a tooth one day soon? Join me to learn all about what children all around the world do with their teeth after they lose them. This class will be taught through discussion and pictures. I will teach about what children do with their lost teeth in different parts of the world (everything from leaving a tooth for the Tooth Fairy to throwing a tooth over the house). The goal of this class is for students to learn more about how different cultures celebrate losing a tooth in different ways.
I was a first grade and second grade teacher for over 17 years and know how much young learners love talking about their "wiggly teeth" :). During my first year of teaching, I had a student who shared with me their family tradition of throwing their baby teeth under the oven for a rat to take it. This tradition intrigued me. Since then, I have learned about many other tooth traditions around the globe. I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I also have extensive training in cultural diversity and am TESL certified. I love teaching all subjects but most of all, I love teaching young learners about the world around them!
