Emmett Till was a 14-year-old African American boy who was viciously kidnapped and murdered after being accused of offending a white woman by the name of Carolyn Bryant. His perpetrators, who were white, did not get punished for the heinous crimes they committed, even after they admitted what they did. Neither Emmett nor his family were granted justice by the court because of the color of their skin. This story sent shockwaves around the world, especially when Emmett Till's brave mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, took action. In this requested class, students will learn about the life of Emmett Till and the brutal crimes committed against him. Although this is a difficult topic to discuss, it is very important that true story of Emmett Till be told. By the end of class, students will know Emmett Till’s story and its impact on the Civil Rights Movement. Students will also learn how his courageous mom, brought national attention to the injustices faced by black people during the Jim Crow era. Students will get a better understanding of how black lives were not valued and how black people were denied a fair trial before the court. This true story is just one example of the long history of injustices against African Americans. CLASS LESSON: -The early Life of Emmett Till -Life in the USA for people of color -Emmett Till's Trip to Mississippi ( A Timeline o f the events that occurred) - THE Brutal Murder of Emmett Till - The role of Emmett Till's mother in bringing national attention to this story - The impact this story had on the country -The outcome in court - The Lack of justice for Emmett Till and his family -The impact this story had on the Civil Rights movement - Class Discussion and the for Questions Words/ideas we will discuss (racism, justice/injustice, Jim Crow laws, expectations for blacks vs whites) PLEASE READ THIS:: Please know that my classes are fact-based, and with that being said, I don't sugar coat my lessons. I teach the truth by explaining in detail what took place. Without the true details, students will not understand the significance of this topic. I teach all of my classes in an age-appropriate manner but it's important to know that I teach every part truthfully (Even the tough topics). If you have a younger student, who would like to take this class, please inbox me. I do welcome younger students (ages 7-9). Class may go over, depending on questions may students have throughout the lesson

In this class, we will be covering topics related to racism, unjust actions, lynching, inequality, laws, and hate crimes that went on in America. Emmett Till's story is a difficult topic (explaining the normality of crimes committed on African Americans in the Jim Crow era) but its important that his story is truthfully told without being sugarcoated.
This class is related to all of my other classes, in terms of how people of color were mistreated and how they handled these situations (during the Civil Rights Movement)
Again, we will have a discussion about the murder of Emmett Till and how he did not receive any justice for what took place.
