This class will be fun, creative, and interactive. Learners will understand and use different parts of speech (nouns, adjectives, adverbs) and figurative language (puns, hyperbole) to write and tell their own jokes. The class is a mix of games, activities, and discussions that will get learners to focus on how they use language. Students will learn how they can make any writing funny, and all concepts will be practiced with targeted writing exercises. Students will also get to perform...
- To understand that some words sound the same but have different meanings (homophones) and to create jokes (puns) using these words - To expand nouns to enhance written and spoken language. - To recognize question words and learn to punctuate "knock knock" jokes - To recognize language patterns and conversation conventions - To understand the use of questions and answers to create jokes - To combine nouns (create compound words) into punch lines - To write clearly and concisely for comic effect
Learners should have a pen/pencil and some paper or a notebook to write on.
