In this first class of my 3-part series of Let's Research, students will learn the different types of reference materials. In the first part, we will focus on the keywords, dictionary, glossary, (and what the difference is) and a thesaurus. We will also discuss the pronunciation guide and analyze the parts of a dictionary entry and what they mean. KEYWORDS: DICTIONARY, GLOSSARY, THESAURUS, PRONUNCIATION GUIDE, GUIDE WORDS, SYNONYMS As a librarian and reading teacher, I know the importance of these tools and using them daily. I make reference to print as well as digital sources for all lessons. We will see a short video to help more visual learners. We will use the vocabulary and practice for the learners that need the support auditorially. I will challenge them and adapt as well, if needed; to make sure they are having fun and learning at the same time! I am a teacher of over 25 years and I love to see students learn and 'get it'! I tend to be very excited while connecting with students, so energy will be present but I can reighn it in if I get to be a bit too excited. I hope to see you in the classroom!
