Books transport us to new places and sometimes it's more fun to travel with others. In this book club we will engage in meaningful discussion about our chosen story, while expanding our understanding of literary devices. We will touch on flashback, foreshadowing, symbolism, false endings, characterization and voice (to name a few). All of the books I have chosen are modern reads, published within the last five years. Learners will stretch their imaginations and learn to think creatively about the story while learning or practicing: --listening and sharing --independent reading, and work together as a group --reading comprehension --recognizing story elements such as character, conflict, setting, plot, and theme --uncovering and understanding different story devices such as flashback, foreshadowing, false endings, red herrings, or deus ex machina
