In this fraction course, students will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions over the course of 4 sessions.  During this time, they will work on the following skills per week (with supplemental practice provided):

Session 1- Reviewing simplifying fractions (using greatest common factor), and learn how to add  fractions with like and unlike denominators (using least common multiple)
Session 2- Review finding common denominators and learn to subtract fractions 
Session 3-  Fraction Multiplication and working with improper and mixed numbers
Session 4-  Dividing fractions and working with mixed numbers in addition

During each class, I will introduce the topic, and we will practice problems. Students will be given the opportunity to practice the problems on the screen as well through annotating, interacting with one another, and ask any questions.  Questions will be presenting on the screen after the introduction of each section, and students will practice them independently, providing responses in the chat feature of Outschool. If students demonstrate an understanding, practice rounds will be continued. If students demonstrate struggles, we will stop and work through problems as a group.  All problems will be reviewed on the screen to show methods of operation to ensure students are understanding how they are getting their answers. 

Every week supplemental work will be provided for practice to help students use skills. Assessment will be provided at the end of the class to determine mastery.

Prerequisite knowledge for success in this class is that students can add and subtract fractions with common denominators and are able to solve fractions not using models. 

Private tutoring is also available upon request for additional support in this concept. 

*Please know during the summer this course is offered as a one week course, while during the school year it is offered one class per week
