課堂經歷
This course is designed for someone who has never picked up the ukulele before, and may not even know how to hold it! Basic Class Outline: - The instructor will start with some basic material, and ideas for the class today - Then the students will observe the instructor walking them through an exercise - Students will then try the exercise on their own, and if they're having an issue with the exercise, they'll be able to message the instructor and ask for close up directions, where I'll walk...
After this program, students will have... - A basic understanding of how to read different types of music for the ukulele - The ability to tune their instrument, and hear when it's out of tune - A basic understanding of rhythm, how to feel rhythm, and an understanding of what to do with a metronome - Knowledge of how to strum chords, and how to play the ukulele with their fingers - The ability to play some of the basic chords for the ukulele - A series of simple melodies they can play
I've taught this class regularly for over 6 years. The impact that I have on the student lasts with them for years, as evidenced by the students that I've had who have signed up for 1 on 1 lessons with me years after taking this class, because they remember me as being a great teacher, and they were disappointed by future teachers they tried taking lessons with.
Students will need to have access to a ukulele for this class. At a music store, you should be able to get a kid’s ukulele for less than $100, especially if you purchase one used. Ukuleles don’t vary too much in size, but it is important to buy an appropriately sized one based on your learner’s age. The four sizes (from smallest to largest) are Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. As an adult, I find a Tenor ukulele comfortable, and a Soprano too small. Most kids start on a Soprano ukulele, but an older kid may feel more comfortable with a concert sized ukulele.

Since this class is for younger students, songs with swear words are not included in the course content, but as a result of their own searches for music, depending on what styles they're interested in, this may be something they come across on their own time outside of class.
Before I started kindergarten, my mom looked at me teaching my younger brother everything that I could and thought "He's going to be a teacher some day..." Fast forward to now... I've been teaching music in my local community and online for 11...
