了解猶太教：什麼是安息日？

Wondering what "Shabbat" is? Come find out!  

Taught by a teacher with an MA in Jewish Studies, this class introduces students to the weekly holiday of Shabbat. I will explain the concept of Shabbat as a special time in the week.  We will also discuss the rules about what, and what isn't, supposed to happen on Shabbat. 

Students will see a demonstration of the lighting of Shabbat candles and the Havdalah candle. We'll also read a short children's story, and discuss the traditional foods of Shabbat. Students will participate through active listening and in-class discussion.

This interactive and inclusive class is open to all students! No prior knowledge is required. Although this class will primarily focus on how this holiday is celebrated in the United States in the Ashkenzi tradition, the class will also touch upon the Sephardic and Mizrahi traditions.

After completing this class, students will understand the holiday of Shabbat, and will have some knowledge about how families around the world celebrate!
