In this 4 week class we will be exploring more than just the basics drawing. We will be doing exercises to help improve drawing skills, as well as creating great artwork. Students will create sketches and one drawing project a week. The class will be fun and will give students freedom in the subject matter that they chose to draw. Exercises will be interesting and the each student is expected to contribute and engage in the class discussion on the classroom page. This interaction with the other students and the teacher will be engaging and encouraging. Some drawing experience is necessary, but an advanced level drawing skill isn't necessary. The lessons in this class will include: one point perspective, the "string method" of drawing a still life, figure drawing, and portrait drawing. We will also have drawing exercises to help with observational and figure drawing . There will be an emphasis on observational drawing, but the students can add their own creative viewpoints. Every week a video will be sent with step by step instructions for the exercises and projects for the week. Throughout the week we will discuss the exercises as well as the project with each other in the classroom and with the other learners enrolled in the class. We will interact with each other and do student and teacher critiques that will be positive and encouraging. We will share pictures of our work, talk about any struggles we have with the projects, and just cheer each other on! The discussion will be positive and encouraging as will as informative and helpful. A new lesson and project will be given every Monday by 9am and discussions will be expected and will happen all week! Week 1 - One Point perspective Week 2 - Ink wash and drawing still life using string method Week 3 - Drawing figures Week 4 - Portrait drawing using a grid

超過 4 週課 1:
One Point Perspective
This week, we're diving into one-point perspective, a technique that creates the illusion of depth on a flat surface. Imagine standing at the end of a long hallway – the walls seem to shrink in the distance, meeting at a single point on the horizon. That's the magic of one-point perspective! We'll learn how to use vanishing points and horizon lines to create realistic drawings of buildings, roads, or any scene with a strong sense of depth.
課 2:
Ink Wash and String Method
This week, we're merging precision and artistry with a fun still-life technique! We'll create stunning ink washes by combining meticulous measuring with string and expressive brushwork.
課 3:
Drawing Figures
This week, let's capture the dynamic beauty of the human form with figure drawing! We'll explore how to translate movement and emotion onto the page, focusing on capturing gesture, proportions, and form.
課 4:
Portrait Drawing Using a Grid
This week, get ready for precise portraits with the grid method! We'll overlay a grid on both your reference photo and drawing surface, creating a roadmap for accurate proportions. By focusing on individual squares, you'll meticulously translate facial features and details from photo to paper. It's a fantastic technique for achieving realistic portraits!

I am excited to join Outschool as an art teacher! I LOVE art!
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art from the University of Central Florida with a concentration in painting. I have been teaching private art lessons for 25 years and have been teaching in the classroom for 19 years. I have taught pre school age through High School AP Drawing and AP 2D Design and everything in between.
I have 3 kids (ages 24, 22 and 13) and live in Orlando, Florida where I enjoy photography and streetpainting (chalk art) in my down time. I am a member of the Central Florida Chalk Artists Association and enjoy doing chalk art for events and non-profits. My daughter and I were actually featured on our local TV station back in April which was a lot of fun!
I love teaching students the art skills to be successful! I love to see students who think they can’t draw or paint find success and love what they created and be proud of it!
I like to engage students at their level and help them feel comfortable being creative, have a great time, learn about art even if they don’t realize they are learning along the way. I love to see the AHA moments they have when they create something they thought might be unachievable.
I think that students thrive when they start where they are and have lots of encouragement along the way! I am excited to be able to bring this to students around the country and the world!
