Many people, especially children, think that honesty is a simple case of not telling lies. But that definition allows a person to "be honest" by remaining silent or leaving out elements of situations that will make them look bad. Honesty is also about how a person acts, not behaving in ways that confuse or deceive others. 

So in this class, one of ten Outschool classes I've created on leadership skills (each class works as a stand-alone), the students will learn three ways people need to be honest:
  - telling the truth based on what actually happened, based on facts and real things (not lying)
  - telling the whole truth, not leaving out parts in order to hide something you know is wrong (lies of omission)
  - acting in a way that is truthful and doesn’t hide the truth or trick others (not deceiving)

The class will be interactive in approach, with me telling stories to illustrate honesty and encouraging the students to tell stories of their own. The connection to other positive character traits like integrity and trustworthiness will also be made.
