What is a multi-sensory approach to reading? It means that students learn by using multiple senses, such as sight, touch, and hearing all at the same time. Students will develop their reading and writing skills by focusing on short vowels, digraphs and blends to read and spell one-syllable words.
I am a certified elementary and early childhood teacher with my M.Ed in Effective Teaching of Reading and Mild to Moderate Learning Disabilities. This will be my 8th year teaching in a classroom and I am trained in the Orton Gillingham approach through IMSE.
-Printed pages that will be provided each week in the classroom that students will need before class -Red Crayon -Pencil -white board and dry erase marker -Sensory material to write in: a shallow tray or baking pan with a thin layer of salt, colored sand, or sprinkles works well.
