History has its eyes on Hamilton. In this ongoing course, we will be analyzing the characters and historical events that are portrayed in the film Hamilton. Each week, using the lyrics from the songs, we will compare a character or event from the musical to what we know to be historically accurate. This is an on-going class and it will run for 15 weeks. Each week, students will compare the characters and events from the film Hamilton to the background and history to analyze how they are alike and different.
I have seen Hamilton live and on film, as well as watched multiple documentaries and interviews with the creator and the cast. I have also read the two Ron Chernow's books that are listed above.
The film Hamilton: The American Musical is rated PG-13. If students are enrolling in this course, their parents will have to decide if they are comfortable with them watching the film.
We will be analyzing events that happened in the film Hamilton: The American Musical. I will be using two of Ron Chernow's books: 'Alexander Hamilton' and 'Washington: A Life as a reference for the historical facts presented in this class.
