I spent five days in the People's Democratic Republic of Korea in June of 2013 and had the opportunity to go places and speak to people that the average visitor does not. And yes, there are (in normal times) tens of thousands of western tourists who visit North Korea each year, not to mention hundreds of thousands of Chinese and other Asian tourists and business travelers. North Korea is a truly unique nation and its culture and geo-political situation are the result of a complex series...
Students will learn about what it's like to visit North Korea as a western tourist. Students will also gain a basic understanding of what led to the Korean conflict and what life is like for the average North Korean living under North Korea's peculiar style of government.
