In this one day class your child will be introduced to the excitement of poetry. We will discuss and brainstorm many words that remind us about the season of fall. I will teach and model the poetry writing process which includes, a specific structure that guides students to organizing their thoughts and results in successful poetry writers. Each student will have time during class to brainstorm, plan, write, and share their work. We will celebrate each other's process and work at the end of...
Students will be able to describe and know how to identify a poem. They will be able to follow the writing process to write poems including; Brainstorming, Planning, Writing, Editing, and Sharing.
I have taught poetry writing to elementary students for over a decade. I believe in reading poetry, modeling, discussing, and having student examples be part of every class. The culminating poetry celebration is a great way for students to feel proud of their work and share their favorite poems.
Students will need pencils and the documents posted to the class page.
