Assessments will be completed in class at the end of the beginner series. We will have checkpoints in every eighth class. The assessment class will be offered separately from the regular course class. I will send a report to the parent to show how the student did on the assessment.

Join me in this fun and engaging ongoing ESL class, designed for young learners ages 3-7, as we explore English through an exciting underwater adventure! Each week, we will scuba dive into a new ocean-themed topic while practicing essential English skills such as listening, speaking, and basic grammar.

Our class begins with warm-up activities, including greetings, songs, and a short show-and-tell session to encourage interaction and build confidence. We’ll focus on foundational phonics, learning new letters and sounds, and blending them into simple words. Students will also be introduced to sight words for early reading, practice forming 2-3 word phrases, and learn basic grammar concepts to build conversational skills.

Each lesson is carefully structured to include interactive activities, vocabulary practice, simple math concepts like counting and number recognition, and a delightful storytime to close the session. This class is ideal for children new to English, providing a playful and supportive environment for language learning.

Weekly Class Schedule:

Week 1 – January 4
• Sing class song
• Time to Share: Share something with the class (e.g., a stuffed animal or drawing).
• Topic: Ocean
• Theme: Beluga Whale
• Shape: Circle
• Color: Red
• Letters & Sounds: A (/ă/), B (/b/)
• Math: Counting to 10
• Grammar Goal: “I see a…” phrases
• Vocabulary: Ocean, whale, big, small, swim
• Storytime

Week 2 – January 11
• Sing class song
• Time to Share: Share something fun or interesting.
• Topic: Ocean
• Theme: Dolphin
• Shape: Square
• Color: Blue
• Letters & Sounds: O (/ŏ/), D (/d/)
• Math: Counting to 10, recognizing and labeling numbers
• Grammar Goal: “I like…” phrases
• Vocabulary: Ocean, dolphin, fast, slow, jump
• Storytime

Week 3 – January 18
• Sing class song
• Time to Share: Share a favorite item or drawing.
• Topic: Ocean
• Theme: Manatee
• Shape: Triangle
• Color: Green
• Letters & Sounds: U (/ŭ/), M (/m/)
• Math: Simple addition (1+1, 2+1)
• Grammar Goal: “I have a…” sentences
• Vocabulary: Ocean, manatee, water, float, round
• Storytime

Week 4 – January 25

• Time to Share: Share an interesting item or fun experience.
• Topic: Ocean
• Theme: Polar Bear
• Shape: Rectangle
• Color: Orange

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to be here.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  I worked in the field of Speech and Language Pathology for six years, teaching kids how to grow their speech, language, and communication skills.  Since then, I have worked in a Montessori school, where I assisted in a classroom environment, covering many different subjects.  I also work for an online ESL company teaching children how to speak English.  I have been a homeschool teacher for 4 years and find teaching very rewarding!  My philosophy is to give my students the tools they each need to learn.  Every child brings a unique set of gifts, and it is in the teacher's hands to open it without damaging what's inside.

I love animals and being outdoors, but most of all I love being creative.  I will bring all kinds of themes and activities to the classroom.  I cannot wait to share it with you!
