Improv 101 allows students to use their imaginations through a series of theater games and improvisation. The class will cover the importance of teamwork and collaboration with games such as Yes and..., The Name Game, and The Royal Court, as well as emphasizing good scene work. I will be teaching with my special guest, Amber Grimm, who will help me illustrate how to perform a scene with an acting partner. I've been performing and teaching improv for over thirty years with groups such as...
The students will understand the importance of collaboration and how to build on another person's ideas. They will also understand how blocking an offer from another player can keep the scene from moving forward. Most of all, they'll get to work their imaginations in an open and creative atmosphere.
I have been acting and performing improvisation for over thirty years starting with Mental Floss in Miami as well as Dad's Garage and The OTC Comedy Troupe in Atlanta and teaching Zoom-prov for over three years.
There are no supplies needed.
We guide the students to work at the top of their intelligence and would not have them act in scene that might be upsetting to them. The idea is to be creative and have fun.
