課堂經歷
This is a very messy, very fun, interactive cooking class. Students will learn how to make cake pops using premade cake mix, canned icing, melting chocolates and sprinkles. Students will also decorate their cake pops however they wish and will be shown an easy way to do these on their own. The class is structured to be very step-by-step, extremely interactive and geared for hands on learners. No experience necessary however students may need help with using a microwave or double...
Students will have fun learning how to make cake pops and learn basic cooking techniques. They will also work with melting chocolate - which is sometimes harder than it looks.
I have been baking all of my life! I am an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. I also teach Food and Nutrition in an Ontario High School and have taught many young people how to bake this recipe successfully. I love to share my joy of baking with students and to see their confidence in the kitchen improve. Cake pops have become a staple in our house and have replaced regular birthday cakes. These are also a great treat to send home in a loot bag!
Please follow this list: -pre baked cake mix cake (chocolate or yellow/golden cake mix) cooled to room temperature (or lower) - can of icing (store bought - chocolate or regular vanilla) - stay away from "whips", just get regular icing -regular sized Popsicle sticks or paper lollipop sticks -FRESHLY bought melting chocolate (chocolate or white chocolate, please stay away from colored chocolates for this class as sometimes they do not melt well) Old chocolate does not melt and is usually not able to be used which can be frustrating for everyone! -sprinkles -empty egg container or large block of styrofoam (12 x 12) -spoon -access to a freezer with room for two smaller containers that can fit in your freezer easily -parchment paper (optional) -microwave and mug or double boiler - large mixing bowl

Students need to come to class with a cake mix cake cooked ahead of time and cooled to room temperature (think Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines). I would recommend baking the cake in two round 8" cake pans or a 9 x 13. Do not ice it! However, we will need icing to make the cake pops (store brand chocolate or vanilla is fine). They will also need FRESH melting chocolate. There are a few more items we need which I will list in the materials section. Just to reiterate: the icing, melting chocolate and the cake are 100% needed. Students also need access to a freezer that has room for them to store their cake pops in during class.
Hi! I live in Canada where it is very cold, but it would warm my heart to share my time with your child helping them to learn in my Reading, English, Cooking, Nutrition and Social Science classes! I earned my Bachelor of Arts and my Bachelor of...
