Collage is more than just flying down pieces of paper, join me to learn how to use collage as means to create value and depth in your works of art! We will be creating a series of three collages in this one-hour class. Basic necessary required materials are listed in the Materials section below and we will also discuss optional supplies that artists might use. While we're in class we will create three collages, one to just get creative juices flowing, one to practice using value to add depth, and one a completed still-life of an object or scene in your creative space. Learners are encouraged to share their work after each collage is created, but sharing is not mandatory. Learners in this class should have an interest in visual arts and visual expression, this class is open to all skill levels.

We will be creating three collages together during this class: - Work surface/space - create a cleared space for you to create. This can be anywhere--kitchen table, desk, counter top--just make sure is cleared and ready to get creative in! - Three pieces of heavy paper (you will use these to construct collages on). There is no specific size requirement, but I do suggest not to go too large since we will be creating together and, in general, it takes longer to work large. Around 7x10 is a good size. You can use anything you have access too, even junk mail! - Paper you can cut up and/or draw on. I suggest old magazine or catalogs along with some plain computer paper to add too. - Glue stick, liquid glue, or Mod Podge - Scissors Optional: - Foam brush or paint brush if you're using liquid glue or Mod Podge

Hello! I am so happy you are here! I love creating art in many different ways, and I cannot wait to create with you! I have an MAT with endorsements in Visual Arts, Pre-K-12 and CTE Commercial Photography and I currently teach photography to high school students during the day. I also have a bachelor's degree in Graphic Communications, specializing in print design, where I spent the first part of my career. I still love print design, but I am really excited about inspiring others to find their love for creating art. My view on visual arts (be it photography, print design, painting, or collage) is that art connects us all, it is through visual literacy that we learn about cultures, about events throughout history, and those around us; art connects us and we all have something to express! I cannot wait to create with you, lets get started!
