課堂經歷
In this four-day chess camp for beginners with some basic knowledge of chess I will cover all of the basics. The first day chess players will review how to set up their chessboards and basic chess openings. The second class will cover basic principles of check, checkmate, stalemate, and points. The third class will be an introduction to specialty moves. The fourth class will conclude specialty moves. The fifth class will be a chance for chess players to put everything they learned throughout week in a game of team chess: from openings, to checkmate, and pawn promotion it is now time to put it all in motion in a team game. Class 1- Basic opening strategies. Beginner Opening strategy: ruling the center and developing your pieces: name each piece, how each piece moves, and how each piece captures. Learning Objective: Students will know how to set up their boards correctly, they will be able to name each piece, how it moves and captures and also opening principles. Class 2- Check, Checkmate, and Stalemate. Review chess openings from the day before. Learning Objective: Students will understand the concepts of checkmate, stalemate, and how to move out of check. They will also learn how to checkmate their opponent. Class 3- Pawns. Team game of pawn chess. Review checkmate and points from the day before. Specialty moves: pawn promotion, en passant. Learning Objective: Specialty moves of the pawns in chess. Class 4- Specialty Moves Review specialty pawn moves from the day before. Specialty moves: pawn promotion, en passant, castles Learning objective: castles For this class students will need their chessboards. I will teach the formalities of a real-life chess tournament and will also cover sportsmanship. What this means is shaking hands with the opponent before and after a game, not making faces or discouraging/distracting body language of any kind while the opponent is deciding where to move, and not shouting out when one's piece is captured or when one loses. This is a beginner class, but some experience is necessary. For the first day students do not need to set up their chess boards prior to class, we will begin by setting up our boards together. If they come to class with their boards set up they will need to take all the pieces off to start. We only set up our boards together on the first day of class. After the first day they can come to class prepared with their boards set up. Thank you. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. I look forward to meeting you soon. Thank you so much! *Note: If I have not scheduled a class at a time that works for you, please feel free to click on alternative times to request a time/day that fits your schedule, or email me directly and I would be more than happy to set up a class for you. I look forward to having your learner in my class. Thank you.

I enjoy playing and teaching chess and inspiring a passion within children to learn. I learned to play as a very young child and believe chess teaches children pertinent problem-solving strategies that help them throughout their lives. The ability to think one's way out of a problem is an essential life skill. Studies show that children who learn chess do better academically, so the science behind the learning is there. I taught chess to elementary-level students at different schools as part of their after-school program. I taught chess strategies, tactics, and sportsmanship to help future leaders solve problems in chess, in their classrooms, and throughout their lives.
❈ Aided in the development of problem-solving skills inside and outside of the classroom.
❈ Improved sportsmanship and success through chess.
