Winter is a great time for cozy writing! So grab a cup of cocoa, a pencil and a notebook. Poems make a thoughtful holiday gift, and students will be encouraged to write for themselves as well as for loved ones. Poems feed our soul. They are meant to be relished with all our senses. Poetry taps into imagination, connects to other forms of literacy, breaks silence, brings joy, and affirms self-esteem. Each class uses one or more specific poetry prompts as mentor texts. I have my certification in Elementary Education (K-6) with creative arts integration. I have taught these lessons in live public and private school classrooms for grades 1-4.
I will provide all poems. Students will need to bring pencil/paper to each class, (or to have a way to type their poems).
